Italy InfoIn 1995 owner Blair Taylor began taking his staff on an educational trip to Italy each year. The trip is a chance for the entire staff to experience and understand the food and wine of Italy firsthand. When you dine at Barolo Grill, the chefs have perfected their dishes under the advice of the best chefs in Italy, and your server has likely tasted the wine he recommends in the cantina with the winemaker!
Lasting approximately two weeks, the trip usually takes place in July. Plans for the 2013 trip are currently underway.
The trip includes stays in Piedmont, Tuscany, Umbria, The Marche and sometimes the Veneto, or even the far north province of Alto Adige.
In Piedmont, we stay in the town of Alba, with visits to the best Barolo and Barbaresco producers as well as the best restaurants in the region.
In Tuscany, we have stayed in the town of Castelina in Chianti and in Montepulciano. From there, we have visited Chianti Classico, Super Tuscan, Brunello di Montalcino and Vino Nobile di Montepulciano producers, and of course, top restaurants.
In The Marche, we stayed in the coastal town of Senigallia on the Adriatic Sea. From there we visited Verdicchio and Rosso Piceno producers.
When the trip includes a stay in the Veneto and/or the Alto Adige, we stay in Desenzano.
